Building Guzzlers

A GUZZLER ... catches rain water, holds the water in a storage container to

dispense the water to wildlife as needed.

The NWTF’s Pike’s Peak Chapter organized the construction of two guzzlers in Dome Rock State Wildlife Area (SWA)

on Sunday, 22 September, at the request of  Colorado’s Department of Parks and Wildlife.

With the very generous support of the Mule Deer Foundation’s Pike’s Peak Chapter and the Pike’s Peak Gun Club/Izaak Walton League of America Shooting Range, we were able to construct two guzzlers in separate, arid areas of the almost 9,700 acre SWA in one day’s time.
The guzzlers, funded with $515.00 worth of materials provided by the NWTF, will provide a valuable water source for Merriam turkey, elk, mule deer, bear and mountain lion for the foreseeable future.

Another way we are fulfilling the NWTF mission of  “Save the Habitat, Save the Hunt.”
