Planting Currant Seedlings
In April 2013, the NWTF’s Pike’s Peak Chapter was asked by
our sister Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) chapter here in Colorado
Springs to help plant 700 Currant seedlings in Dome Rock State
Wildlife Area (SWA). The NWTF Pike’s Peak Chapter gladly
supported the MDF and helped plant 350 Wax and 350 Golden
Currant bushes to provide a long-term natural food source for
elk, mule deer and Merriam turkey in the 6,900-plus acre SWA.
The NWTF’s Pike’s Peak Chapter enjoys a
mutually beneficial working relationship with the MDF’s Pike’s
Peak Chapter and is
delighted to support the MDF in any and all habitat improvement
efforts across the state.
